One of the most challenging and most rewarding part of non profit work is knowing you've helped a young person find their way.
Building Self Confidence
Two Primary Objectives of Building Self Confidence:
Develop feelings of self awareness and self worth
Focus frustration/anxiety/anger on constructive goals
Community role models
We use the very best talent in our organization to partner with youth: the leaders of Little Forest Shaolin Buddhism, who inspire our community to better things.
Partnering our members with youth in need is an essential part of this program. We usually prioritize pairing youth with our senior disciplines, apprentices and priests, over our other programs. We do this because we believe our limited resources are better spent on youth.
The mentor-ship program works a lot like the Big Brother/Big Sister program: the youth and the mentor build a relationship of trust that the youth needs to develop themselves.
